Jake is first introduced in Act 6 of Homestuck and befriended in Volume 12 of Pesterquest. An adventurous young man with an old-fashioned way of speaking, Jake lives alone on an island filled with hostile monsters. He's close friends with Jane, Roxy, and Dirk.
