Kenichi's classmate and Sora's charity case. He is shy, awkward, quiet, and seems particularly sensitive to insults. He spends most of his time at school drawing in his sketchbook, and becomes extremely anxious whenever someone tries to peek inside or grab it. The only person in Class he regularly interacts with is Sora, whose kind nature makes it easier for Asahi to open up. Asahi is a frequent target of Kenzo, the class delinquent, who often insults, smacks, or otherwise humiliates him. No one ever intervenes except Sora. As a result, whenever Sora gets involved, Kenichi inevitably ends up getting involved as well.
