Lucy and the protagonist has a brief whirlwind romance when they were in college before she simply left him to pursue some other new interest. Whilst Lucy seems to have settled down with this job, it is hard to see if her wild ways and carefree nature have gone or if her interest in the protagonists return is simply her wanting to have more fun with Michael and with the other girls of the café.
