Back in the 2010s, when mermaid and fairy shows gained popularity among children, especially girls. When the web was flooded (no pun intended) with real spells to become a mermaid, ridiculous rituals to gain magic powers, and promises that you can become a mermaid with all powers and a sliver tail in one night for free no credit card needed.
Be honest, have you tried any of those?
If you were an imaginative kid with unsupervised access to the internet and obsession with any of the popular mermaid shows back then, I bet you have! But have you ever stopped to wonder what would really happen if one of those spells actually worked?
Neither did our protagonist.
Years later she is no longer that carefree dreamer girl she used to be. Adulthood is messy, stressful, and a lot less magical than she imagined. More than anything she wishes to return to those simple days when all she wanted was to be No Ordinary Girl.
