Project Deep Nexus is a science fiction visual novel centered on an overworked corporate employee at the failing artificial intelligence company, Astral World. Drowning in company debt, the protagonist agrees to beta-test the company's experimental "Deep Nexus" project—which features advanced AI clone agents based on human profiles—in exchange for full debt forgiveness.
After initiating the test from their apartment in August 2045, the protagonist loses consciousness and unexpectedly wakes up inside a simulated reality set seven years in the past, during their high school days in May 2038. The premise follows the protagonist as they navigate this simulated school environment and a multi-day summer camp trip alongside a cast of highly advanced AI versions of their former peers, blending slice-of-life school elements with the underlying corporate and technological mysteries of the simulation.
