The game is set in an alternate world where the collapse of the USSR did not happen, and instead the country, having passed through the era of stagnation, began a rapid development that gave the people of the Union a world that Soviet sci-fi writers dreamed of: space travel became an everyday occurrence, education and medicine became a model for the whole world, and unique engineering solutions from the pages of futuristic novels began to be implemented in cities.

The protagonist, Sergei, is a Soviet student who has just enrolled in the rocket and space engineering faculty of the country's main university. Sergei's parents went missing during an accident on the space station Zarya; he was just a child then, and any details of what happened remained a government secret.

Sergei has long since given up hope of finding out the truth, but on one of the first days of classes, when the head of the freshman was busy with much more mundane concerns, he learns that a large part of the development of the station was carried out on the grounds of the university. Now, he is determined to continue the investigation and get to the truth, not knowing whether it is out of pure curiosity, a sense of justice, longing for his relatives or some other emotions.
