During the Fourth Great World War between Humanity and AI, the machines won, pushing humanity to the brink of extinction. In a last-ditch effort to recover and repopulate, a surviving faction of human scientists and engineers, now extinct, used their scrambled-together technology to create a hidden, rogue AI. At regular intervals, this AI transports four individuals to a new world through the Portal Trials. These trials consist of six game-like floors, each testing a different virtue: Wisdom and Knowledge, Courage, Humanity, Justice, Temperance, and Transcendence.
